I was an integral part of the small team of VFX specialists at Guru Studio (Toronto, ON, Canada) working to add visual effects to Season 2 of the hit show Abby Hatcher. I consistently delivered shots on time and above expectation, while also finding time to develop tools and scripts to aid workflow and improve output.
I produced various dust, smoke, particle, water and rigid-body effects, working to art direction and within budget. In addition, to increase efficiency I developed a set of Houdini and Maya tools that was later rolled out to the rest of the team. These included various simple timesaver scripts (e.g. to load hidden nodes quickly) and more complex tools with multiple steps and options. For example, I made a tool to improve and simplify scattering of random objects from files or existing nodes to points and another to help import Houdini particles into Maya correctly.
Unfortunately, I am unable to request shots for my reel from this show; however, I have found some examples of my work on YouTube so I have linked these below. Each clip should start just before the mentioned effects but timestamps are listed in the captions as well for clarity. Abby Hatcher is available on Netflix (depending on the region) and I can provide details for other sequences with interesting FX on request.
