I am an energetic and creative visual effects artist/TD, designer, illustrator and editorial professional with a strong desire to inspire change through my work.
In 2019, I graduated with honours from the postgraduate course in visual effects at George Brown College, where I built on my already varied foundation and established wide-ranging knowledge in all aspects of the VFX pipeline. I thoroughly enjoyed the programme and went above and beyond to excel in my studies and assist fellow classmates to do the same; with a GPA of 4.0, I was on the Dean's list for each semester and received an Award for Academic Performance at the end of the year. My work was also featured in the George Brown College Houdini reel: https://vimeo.com/355523699. I am particularly interested in procedural modelling and simulations (working mostly in Houdini), but I also enjoy hard- and soft-surface modelling, texturing, rigging, compositing, motion graphics and scripting.
Towards the end of my time studying, I interned with Cream Digital & Thought Café, doing R&D for a VR interactive video experience using Unreal Engine 4, which was an interesting and motivating experience. I then moved on to Guru Studio, where I created many impactful visual effects for several 3D animated shows: Paw Patrol, Abby Hatcher and Mecha Builders. I quickly began developing tools to help myself and the team work more efficiently and consistently, and this led to me working part-time for the TD team for the last months of my time in the studio. I subsequently moved to the Netherlands and work freelance with clients worldwide.
I think that clear communication is of vital importance in all storytelling, whether for film and TV productions, medical animations, technical and scientific publications, novels and graphics, or digital platforms. I strive to combine my varied skills with my scientific background and work experience to aid the visual communication of concepts in a clear manner adapted to the intended audience.
I have extensive experience in science, healthcare and education, specialising in in-house and freelance graphic design (including layout, advertising and infographics), publishing (online and print) and editing. I undertake varied editorial and design work for a range of clients, including science publishers, medical communications agencies, charities and SMEs. My technical understanding, scientific editorial background and highly trained eye for detail allow me to offer a higher level of VFX and design service. I particularly enjoy working with clients to educate, inform and inspire.
