A selection of VFX I made for Mecha Builders

I was a key member of the VFX team at Guru Studio (Toronto, ON, Canada) working on Sesame Workshop's 3D show Mecha Builders. I created great effects in tight timelines and supported the rest of the team as I built on my Python skills, creating tools and shortcuts to improve our workflows. At the beginning of 2022, I joined the TD team part-time and worked the rest of the season for both departments, which was an excellent learning opportunity.
Working mainly in Houdini and Maya, I produced art-directable effects ranging from stylised dust "puffs" and smoke trails to particle and rigid-body simulations. I made various Python tools and HDAs for repeatable FX and developed some utility tools to integrate the FX department into the pipeline more efficiently, including tools to aid in standardised flipbook creation and upload to the production's Shotgun (now Shot Grid) setup for review.

Mecha Builders Opening Credits (I made the grass bits FX at 0:28)

I have received a few clips from Guru Studio demonstrating some of my work (see the reel above) but am awaiting others from episodes that have yet to air. In the meantime, I found several other examples of my work on YouTube and I have linked these below. Each clip should start just before the mentioned effects but timestamps are listed in the captions as well for clarity.
